Even time lords need to refuel
One of our clients owns, amongst other things, a chain of petrol stations. One of them (for no immediately apparent reason) has a life size Tardis parked on the forecourt. I don't watch Dr Who, but as one of the most a recognisable TV icons of all time, it makes me smile every time I fill up there (even if I'm not smiling about the cost of filling the tank) – imagining the doctor popping in for a Ginsters before giving the tardis a good jet wash.
In the name of research, I asked them whether it was there for a very serious reason – turns out it isn't:
The Tardis is purely for fun - just a bit of theatre. [At other sites] we had Star Wars star ships and an R2D2. I am sat in Head office with a full size storm trooper for company!
It's great to see companies having a bit of fun and adding personality to their brand – it helps differentiate themselves in a traditionally convenience/price-driven marketplace.
Perhaps it's a good job we're not too close by, as if our (albeit miniature) Dalek which lives in the office were ever to find out, ongoing intergalactic battles may harm client relationships!
