Go-On Give An Hour campaign

"Go-On" is a campaign being run jointly by Race Online 2012 and UK Online Centres, aiming to get more people online by showing those who have never used the Internet before how easy it is to use, and what they can gain from doing so.

Rckt has worked with Go-On for a while; in 2010 we built their site aimed at Digital Champions (members of the public willing to help people they know to get online).

In autumn 2011, they ran the "Give An Hour" campaign in partnership with the BBC - to encourage people to use the hour gained when the clocks go back to teach (or learn) how to use the Internet. We were asked to design the campaign landing page (within the existing brand identity and feel), update the mentors' site, and build an accessible version of the Flash-based pledge form.

Within tight and immovable deadlines (the campaign was receiving considerable PR and on-screen promotion across the BBC including a glossy 40 second trailer and was supported by the likes of Stephen Fry, Fiona Bruce and Bill Oddie) we rose to the challenge and designed and built a series of content managed web pages which played a crucial role in the effectiveness of the campaign. These included real time updates of the number of people who had signed up - it ended up helping tens of thousands of people get online for the first time.
