Student finance - simple with interactive timeline

Services

Project details

Student finance is a political hot-potato, with both universities and students feeling the pinch. The University of Sheffield's Finance Department are there not only to process payments, but to help educate students on money matters.

They recently won funding from the Consumer Financial Education Body to develop innovative ways of helping potential and current students learn about the stages and processes of receiving funding, and advice on how to budget, save and spend wisely.

Rckt was approached to build an interactive timeline featuring video clips of student talking about how they deal with money at each stage of their university careers.

We commissioned a film-maker to professionally produce the interviews, and designed an interactive timeline which uses Javascript progressive enhancement techniques to create a dynamic and engaging experience while keeping the content accessible and searchable. Users can scroll through different timelines for each year of the university experience, zoom in, and expand information of interest.

The whole timeline is designed to be re-used by other institutions, and so is fully rebrandable and customisable.
